The Eight Pieces of Brocade

Eight Pieces of Silk

During the Song Dynasty (960-1280 AD), Marshal Yue Fei (1127-1280 AD), creator of Eagle-Claw Boxing and Hsing-I, used Da Mo’s Yi Jin Jing exercises as a base to create twelve exercises to improve the health of his soldiers.

These were known as The ‘Twelve Pieces Of Brocade’ or Shi Er Duan Jin. Through the years they were simplified into eight exercises, and became known as the ‘Eight Pieces Of Brocade’ or Ba Duan Jin.

Many variations have come to exist, including sitting versions.

In part 1 you will learn the eight standing movements and in part 2 the eight seated movements.

These have been used to improve health and vitality for close to 1,000 years - because they work!
