Beyond the Tai Chi forms, beyond the Qi Gong exercises, lies the elegant and effective T’ai Chi Jian (sword) Form.
With it’s dramatic leaps and turns, and it’s shining blade sweeping through the air and the tassels swirling about, it always captures the attention and imagination of young and old alike.
The use of weapons allows students to learn to extend their Qi, enhance their art and self-expression, and to further refine themselves.
Tai Chi Chuan practitioners cherish the Tai Chi Jian for it’s unique exploration of the body-mind focus and it’s powerful lessons for Tai Chi Chuan practice.
The sword provides students (scholars and martial artists alike) with an elegant feeling and self respect, the sword often comes to represent the morality and profound accomplishments in martial arts that its bearer has achieved.
Tai Chi Jian, just like Tai Chi Chuan, is characterized by slow, graceful movements, and using the principles of relaxation, yielding and softness to overcome force, it has become a tool for relaxation and well-being.
To further our students who have completed a course of study in the 24 Posture Simplified Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Form the next step is to move onto weapons study, and to this end we teach the 32 Posture Simplified Yang Style Tai Chi Jian Form.
The gentle movements of this art make it appropriate for participants of any age or fitness level.
You can expect to improve your balance, flexibility, co-ordination and strength through this program.
Previous Tai Chi experience is required, and students should be able to perform the full 24 posture form following the instructor.
