Chinese Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799) exercising with health balls |
|
In China these balls are known as ‘health balls’ or 'bao djian tshou', ‘valuable ball’ or 'baici'. In the west they are commonly known as 'Chinese Health Balls', 'Therapy Balls', 'Energy Balls', 'Tai Chi Balls' or 'Baoding Balls'.
Manipulating Chinese Health Balls exercises and strengthens the hands and feet, improving dexterity and range of motion.
They can help reduce the risk of a variety of hand problems and chronic diseases, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injury, tendonitis rheumatism and arthritis.
The movement around the hands and feet stimulates acupressure points, in turn stimulating each meridian. This creates a better circulation of vital energy (Qi) and blood within the body, helping balance the energies in the internal organs.
Their use also has a calming effect on the nerves, and is good for stress relief, relaxation and as an aid to meditation.
They help stimulate the mind; keeping the brain active and learning, helping help reduce the risk of cognitive decline, dementia and Alzheimers Disease.
Our three hour workshop greatly expands on the Introductory class; you will learn everything you wanted to know about Chinese Health Balls and more!
During the first part of the class you will find out all their benefits, and how they provide those benefits, why they have a 2,000 year history, and you will see how the chiming balls are made.
The second part of the class is focussed on learning and practicing the basic exercises. It also gives an opportunity to try the many different types and sizes that are available - including some of the rarer types.
The third part of the class introduces the advanced techniques for us to see and try!
The final part of the class adds some 'extras' including the Lemniscate, balancing your energy and massage techniques.
This workshop is great for students new to 'Chinese Health Balls' and the seasoned user alike.
